From the Arctic to Antarctica, the polar regions unfold as a progression of shifting conditions and experience. The north, influenced by the Gulf Stream, sustains life at high latitudes, while the south stands in contrast — isolated, uninhabited, and defined by its own distinct ecology. Between these points, the landscape softens and changes, offering moments of transition before reaching each extreme.

In this exhibition, Marie Lund, Trevor Lund, George Cook and Catherine Ann presented this passage through a series of connected works.

The exhibition presented a series of paintings drawn from moments in the landscape that caught my eye and gave me pause — the bright reflection of a sunset, light settling across a secluded stream, the brightness of canola fields, or the quiet of an outer Canberra sunset. These moments restore me — the pace slows and something steadier takes hold.
