About CatherineAnn Nelson

CatherineAnn has been creating art since her childhood in the Midwest. She relocated to Utah in the mid ‘60s and has found inspiration for her paintings in both the small and large details of her surroundings. Her style is constantly evolving, shifting the methods and materials as she puts trust in the process. Often working with texture, she adds layer after layer in stages until a painting is complete.

Artist Statement

A blank canvas is so exciting! I run my hands over the surface in anticipation of the painting that will be revealed. What color? Texture? Will the vision of the painting be complete before I start or will it come in a piece at a time? Or do I trust the piece to be revealed in each moment? Each time I paint, I learn. Good music, paint brush in hand, time stops.
